- Toyota new hybrid concept car: Hybrid X.
- Speaking of concept cars, GM is now targeting 2010 for it’s Chevy Volt. Some interesting quotes (backsliding?) in the article, notably that the chance of it looking like the concept car that everyone’s been seeing is slim to none. Seems like a lot of unknowns for a company that made one of the first commercial electric cars.
- King of the hyper-milers, Wayne is able to squeeze 59mpg out of his old Accord. Faint of heart need not apply. Over at Kottke there’s an interesting comment thread on the subject.
- Looks like automobile telematics is starting to gather more interest than speed and power.
“We’re sort of outside our comfort zone.” -(k)Lutz.
GMspeak for “We shot all our EV engineers last decade.”
...or “um, we sold all our patents to Chevron-Texaco”
Funny!
Or, “we are waiting (praying!) for the tide of public interest to swing back to SUVs so we don’t have to do this…”
I looked up the specs on the EV1 and it turns out that the new concept has a lower proposed range than the EV1. Sounds like GM needs to hire some better engineers…
One-line comment posted over at Green Car Congress recently;
“GM is perfecting the car that runs on Press Releases.”
:-)
You are all so cynical!
